It was really foggy in Melbourne on Friday night.

This was taken just outside my place, looks quite spooky and plain so I included some cars in the next shot.

I figured it's about time I put something new up, it's been a long time since updated this blog...

Went out to take some portrait shots for a friend who is getting married soon, this was taken in Lincoln Square on Swanston Street.

Fireworks in Melbourne 2004

While hanging out at a friend's place over the weekend, she and a few others mentioned that my older fireworks photos were better than this year's "new technique".

I have to point out that my 2007 New Year fireworks photos do not do justice to the Japanese photographer that I learnt the technique from, his shots were really amazing. Unfortunately I cannot find his online gallery anymore nor do I remember his name, you'll just have to take my word for it. His technique is really hard to do.

Anyway, I dug out a few old shots that I took back in 2004's Australia Day (26th Jan).

I think that was the first time I tried shooting fireworks, I was using a Canon 300D back then.

This year is my third time shooting fireworks, I am using a Nikon D70s now.

Went out to the city and walked around a bit to look for a decent spot to take photos of the fireworks from, the Arts Centre balcony seemed like a good place.

Then from 7pm, I waited...

and waited...

for the two fireworks show which were at 9:15pm & 12 midnight.

Below are the few decent shots that I took using a new technique I learnt back in June but never had the chance to try out.

And a more standard looking one using more traditional techniques.
